Next Book Club Meeting: Thurs. Aug. 11 @ 7 pm

The next Book Club gathering is Thursday, August 11, 7 pm at Ring Mountain Café. We will discuss the novel, The Secret Life of Becky Miller by Sharon Hinck. Some ladies have mentioned that the book has been difficult to find. If you are willing to lend your copy, let Sharon Moore know. And if you still need a copy of the book or have any other questions about the book club, send Sharon an email at bookclub@ssefc.org.

Synopsis of The Secret Life of Becky Miller: Becky Miller is a young mom who wants to do Big Things for God. Her vivid daydreams help her cope with the pressure to be a Wonderful Wife and Marvelous Mother. Yet the tape going through her mind continues to play: Your mission: support your husband when he loses his job, nurture an eccentric circle of friends, raise perfect Christian children, cook delicious meals in a spotless kitchen, lead the women's ministry at church, and live a life filled with Meaning and Purpose. How does this supermom react when her grand plans start to fall apart? What will it take for her to turn off the tape and listen to God's voice instead?

Our next good reads and the dates we will meet to discuss (Thursdays, 7 pm at Ring Mountain Café): September 8Tending Roses by Lisa Wingate; and October 20Under the Cajun Moon by Mindy Starns Clark.

Wear Your Red Jubilee Shirt Sunday, July 10!

This Sunday, July 10, please show your past and present support of Jubilee by wearing your red Jubilee shirts to church!

Want to be involved with Jubilee? This one-day event coming soon on Saturday, September 17 from 10 am to 3 pm seeks to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need in our surrounding community. Contact Lyle and Kathy Luppes at jubilee@ssefc.org with questions about Jubilee or to find out where/how you can serve. The next planning meetings are Tuesdays, July 12 and 26 at 7 pm at River Valley Church in Apple Valley (14898 Energy Way).

Two ways you can help NOW: (1) If you would like to give a monetary donation to Jubilee, write a check to SSEFC and write “jubilee” in the memo. You can place it in the offering plate, or drop off in the office or the wood box in the East Hallway. (2) And remember that our church is continuing to collect 100 oz. bottles of laundry detergent to give away at Jubilee. Toothpaste and packs of 4 toilette paper is also greatly needed. Thank you!

Visit http://www.jubileemn.org/ for more information about Jubilee. Watch a short video at this site from last year’s Jubilee to get a good picture of what this event is all about.
